Hurricane Supplies now Tax Exempt

Effective August 1, 2025 some hurricane supplies are now permanently tax exempt in the State of Florida! As the hurricane season begins to ramp up, please begin thinking about stocking up on your hurricane supplies to get ready should our State be threatened once again by a storm this season.

Here's a list of disaster supplies in Florida that are tax free:

Batteries

Portable Generators - 10,000 running watts or less

Waterproof Tarps - 1,000 sq. ft or less

Portable Gas Cans - 5 gallons or less

Ground Anchor Systems and Tie-Down Kits

Smoke Detectors or Smoke Alarms; Carbon Monoxide Detectors; Fire Extinguishers

Life Jackets

Sunscreen

Insect Repellent (we need this in FL almost year 'round!)

Bottled water, first aid kits and many food items purchased at the grocery store are already tax-free.

Bicycle helmets are also tax free. Previously only youth helmets were tax free, now all bicycle helmets are tax free!

NOAA is predicting there is a 60% chance of an above-normal season, a 30% chance of a near-normal season and a 10% chance for a below-normal season. STOCK UP AND BE PREPARED!!
